Salme Soovere

Born on May 4, 1912 in Aseri, Estonia. First instruction in art was from Jüri Riis and Arnold Vihvelin in Estonia. Studied art at a private studio in Schwarzenbeck, Germany (1945) and furthered her studies at Putney School of Art in London, England. Graduated from the University of Toronto in Fine Arts (1977).

Exhibited in London, Bradford (England) and Esto '72 in Toronto. EKKT member since 1985. Also member of University Women's Club in Toronto where she has exhibited in several group shows. Recipient of 1990 Canada Day Achievement Award from City Hall for volunteer work at EKKT. Exhibits her works at EKKT annual art shows and at EKKT group show in Tallinn, Estonia in 1996.

Works in private collections; articles in newspapers, catalogues and files. Lives in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Sündinud 4. mail 1912 Aseris, Eestis. Oppis Eestis kunsti Jüri Riisi ja Arnold Vihvelini juhendamisel; hiljem erastuudios Schwarzenbeckis Saksamaal (1945), Putney School of Art'is, Londonis, Inglismaal, lõpetades Toronto Ulikooli Fine Arts kraadiga (1977). Esinenud näitustel Londonis, Bradfordis Inglismaal ja Esto '72-l Torontos.
EKKT liige alates aastast 1985. Kuulub ka University Women's Club'i Torontos. Sai Canada Day Achievement Award'i Toronto Raekojas vabatahtliku tää eest EKKT-s. Täid on erakogudes, artikleid ilmunud ajalehtedes ja kataloogides. Esineb iga-aastastel EKKT näitustel, võttis osa EKKT grupinäitusest Kastellaanimaja Galeriis Tallinnas 1996.a.
