Richard Sööt

Date of birth: April 13th, 1903, Valga, Estonia Education: Valga Kommerts Kool, Valga Poeglaste Gümnaasium (Estonia). While serving in the army he obtained technical education and serviced the army working as a Civil Architect.

1933-36: State School of Art in Tallinn, Estonia. Decoration and Interior Architecture. Mentors for painting class Roman Nyman and August Jansen.

Career to date

1937: Established his own company "Estonian Applied Art" ("Eesti Tarbekunst")

1941: Soviet Estonian Art Corporation, Director of Decoration Department.

1944: During the Second World War settled as a refugee in Germany, where joined the Berufsferband Bilender Künstler in Schwaben, as an active member until emigration to the USA.

Sündinud 13. aprillil 1903 Valgas, Eestis. Oppinud Valga Kommertskoolis ja Valga Poeglaste Gümnaasiumis.

1933-36 õppis Riigi Kunstitäästuskoolis Tallinnas dekoratsiooni ja sisearhitektuuri. Opetajateks maaliklassis olid Roman Nyman ja August Jansen.

1937 asutas Tallinnas ettevõtte Eesti Tarbekunst.

1941 Kunstnike Kooperatiivi dekoratsioonitääkoja juht.

1944 põgenes Saksamaale, 1944-49 oli Svaabimaa Kujutavate Kunstnike Kutseühingu liige.

1949-1972 täätas USA-s algul joonestajana, hiljem arhitektina.

1962-praeguseni vabakutseline kunstnik. Näitused: Baltimore, Md., N.Y., Chicago, Il., Rockaway, N.J., Seattle, Wa.; Morristown, N.J., Portland, Or., Oakland, Ca., Lakewood, N.J., Williamantic, Ct., Los Angeles, Ca., Washington D.C., Toronto, Ont., Vancouver, B.C.,Tallinn, Eesti.
