Johannes Tanner

Johannes Tanner was born in Estonia in 1924. While he has studied at the Ontario College of Art and taken courses with the Toronto Board of Education, Tanner considers himself mostly a self-taught artist. He has been painting since 1964 and works mainly with acrylics in abstract form.

Tanner has exhibited in many group shows and received awards for both his work and for volunteerism. He has paintings in many private and public collections, such as in the Estonian House in Toronto and in the Tartu Art Museum. He is also a member of the Estonian House Art Committee in Toronto, and since 1982 has been a member of EKKT and a member of the Estonian Heritage Club. Tanner currently resides in Toronto, Ontario.

Sündinud Eestis 1924.a. Alustas maalimisega 1964.a. Peamiselt autodidakt, kuid õppinud Ontario College of Art'is ja Toronto Board of Education'i kunstikursustel. Täätab akrüüliga abstraktses stiilis. Esinenud paljudel grupinäitustel. Saanud tunnustusi oma tääde eest. Täid paljudes era- ja avalikes kogudes -ÊToronto Eesti Maja kunstikogus ja Tartu Kunstimuuseumis. On järgmiste ühenduste liige: Toronto Eesti Maja Kunstikomitee, Eesti Kultuuripärandi Klubi ja Eesti Kunstnike Koondis Torontos alates 1982.a. Tegeleb aktiivselt fotograafia ja videoga.
