Hele Gelzins

Born on August 15, 1937 in Parnu, Estonia, Hele received her primary education in Sweden. She immigrated to Canada with her mother in 1951, and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from McMaster University.

Having studied journalism and worked as a corporate communicator both in Toronto and Hamilton, Gelzins entered the art world via advertising through courses in colour, layout and design. For many years she worked in Native Arts and Crafts Management working with artists, arranging exhibitions, writing and arranging publicity.

Over the years Gelzins has belonged to many arts organizations. She has recently studied drawing, painting and printmaking privately as well as at the Dundas Valley School of Art. Gelzins has been a long time supporting member of EKKT and exhibited with EKKT in 1999 at the Estonian House in Toronto. She currently resides in Dundas, Ontario.
