Born on April 9, 1959 in Hamilton, Ontario, Elva Palo received her Bachelor of Visual Arts degree from York University in Toronto and her Advertising and Graphic Design education from Humber College. She was an active participant in the professional group of Women in Art at the University of Regina in Saskatchewan, and was involved with Art Therapy courses at the MacKenzie Art Gallery in Regina. She taught at the Neil Balkwell Art Centre and had her work shown at public schools and community centres as part of a cross-provincial tour throughout Saskatchewan organized by the University of Regina.
Palo's illustrations have been used in newspapers and magazines, and her commissioned works, involving people as subjects, have been completed in the form of portraits, collages and installations. She has had her work on display and been part of gallery events in Toronto, East York, Regina, Saskatoon, Yorkton, Emerald Park, New York and Tallinn, Estonia. She currently resides in Oakville, Ontario with her husband and five children and works out of her Art Studio, which has been established as part of her home.
