Abel Lee

Born in Estonia in 1918, Abel Lee studied graphic art in Tallinn and immigrated to Canada via Finland and Sweden in 1951.

Lee creates in a variety of graphic art and mixed media techniques covering a wide range of observations in human and natural environments. Leaning toward fantasy and symbolism, his treatment is impressionistic and semi-abstract, with emphasis on form and colour.
Lee is listed in the "International Directory of Arts" and "Worldwide Bio-bibliographical Encyclopedia of Contemporary Art of Ex libris".

Lee has work displayed in a British Museum and in several museums in Estonia. He has also represented Canada in international exhibitions of Ex libris. In 1977 he appeared in an hour-long television production "Create With Abel Lee", which aired on several occasions, and he was interviewed on television in 1996.

One of the founding members of EKKT and its first President (1956-57), Lee is an honourary member and former President of the "Colour and Form Society" (Toronto). He received the Province of Ontario's Plaque of Merit in 1983.

Loob graafilistes ning segatehnilistes variatsioonides, mis ainestikult katavad laia sektori. Tähelepanekuid looduse ning inimese miljöödest. Kaldub fantaasiasse ning sümbolismi, looming on stiililt impressionistlik ning semi-abstraktne, rõhuga värvil ja vormil.

Lee on esindatud "International Directory of Arts" ja "Worldwide Bio-Bibliographical Encyclopedia of Contemporary Art of Ex Libris" (8 lehek.). Esindatud British Museum'is ja Prints Albert Museum'is, Londonis, ning mitmes muuseumis Eestis. 1977.a. valmis tunnilise kestvusega film "Create With Abel Lee". 1996.a. toimus TV intervjuu.
EKK kujutava kunsti laureaat 1978. Uks EKKT asutajaliikmeist ja selle esimene president (1956-57). Colour and Form Society (Toronto) endine president ja auliige. Province of Ontario Plaque of Merit 1983.a.
